CONFERENCES
ADIM 2019 CONFERENCE
The Academy for Design Innovation Management conference 2019 took place in London and gathered researchers and design professionals to reflect and discuss the role of design for innovation in the academic, institutional and business sphere.
The researchers Francisco Zamorano and Catalina Cortés presented their paper and talk “Designing an intuitive interface to enhance trigonometry learning”, sharing an overview of the process and results of the one-year study. The study was part of the track “Materiality in the Digital Age”, that opens the discussion about the role of the physical in an increasingly digitized world, reflecting on its impact in education, arts, science and social interactions. The research presented in this track was led by academics from OsloMet, Western Norway University of Applied Science, University of Florida y RMIT University.
CUMULUS 2019 CONFERENCE
Cumulus is an instance of reflection about the role of art, media and design in response to the challenges of an ever-evolving world. the projections, the future of design education and the projections of the discipline. It explores emerging interactions between research, practice, education, and policies that regulate and promote the design discipline. This version took place in Rovaniemi, Finland, and was hosted by the Faculty of Art and Design of the University of Lapland.
The researcher Catalina Cortés presented the preliminary results of the research during 2018, focusing on the research process and methodology used to develop the interface. The talk was part of the “Cross-disciplinary Paths for Art, Design and Media”, that gathered speakers around the opportunities and challenges of interdisciplinary design, covering diverse disciplines such as textile design, educational spaces, and the integration of new technologies for learning.
SID 2018 Conference
The “Seminario de Investigación en Diseño 2019” (Design Research Seminar 2019) took place at brand new building Teatro Bío-Bío (Bio’Bio Theater), in Concepción, Chile. The conference was hosted by the School of Design at Universidad de Talca and the School of Architecture, Building and Design at the Universidad del Bío-Bío. On its eight version, the conference hosts a space of encounter for researchers to share and discuss the advancements of Design Research at a national, regional and international scale.
The researchers Catalina Cortés and Francisco Zamorano presented the talk “Development of a multisensory interface for trigonometry learning”, where they shared the state of the research at that time and preliminary results.
